Kennesaw State, Fulton County Schools teaming to create pathways into teaching careers

Kennesaw State University and Fulton County Schools are partnering to create new opportunities for high school students to accelerate their college education and pursue careers in teaching. Through the dual enrollment initiative, Fulton County students can earn college credit while in high school, gain early classroom experience, and have a streamlined admissions process into Kennesaw State鈥檚 Clarice C. and Leland H. Bagwell College of Education. Leaders from Fulton County Schools and Kennesaw State signed the agreement during a ceremony on Tuesday at KSU.

Andrew Bramlett is well beyond his years, recalling history like a scholar who has long been in the field, longer than his lifetime. Some might say he鈥檚 prodigious. At 19 years old, the first-year history student at Kennesaw State University sits on the Kennesaw Historic Preservation Commission. A decade ago, though, he was appointed vice president of the Kennesaw Historical Society and served in this role until the group disbanded in 2023.

Phone app boosts Kennesaw State's Takeout Club waste reduction initiative

A program where takeout food containers at Kennesaw State University dining halls are returned, washed, and reused has seen its effectiveness skyrocket through use of a phone app. KSU鈥檚 Takeout Club program has been in existence for years, but when dining services managers pivoted to an app called Fill it Forward, the return rate for meal containers increased significantly. The system lets dining managers keep accurate track of the inventory of containers in circulation, as well as letting them and Takeout Club members know how much waste is being diverted from garbage dumps 鈥� more than a half ton so far.
