Kennesaw State鈥檚 economic impact tops $2.55 billion

Kennesaw State University continues to be a major economic engine in metro Atlanta, growing its economic impact to more than $2.55 billion in fiscal year 2025, according to a released on Aug. 13.

Kennesaw State鈥檚 FY 2025 economic impact in the Atlanta Metropolitan Statistical Area marked an 11.1% increase from $2.3 billion the previous year. The total impact of all 26 USG institutions across the state of Georgia was $25.1 billion in fiscal year 2025, up 8.9% from $23.1 billion in FY 2024.

KSU鈥檚 personnel and operating expenses, combined with education-related spending by students, accounted for $1.55 billion of the University鈥檚 total FY 2025 economic impact. An additional $1 billion resulted from the institution, its employees, and students purchasing goods and services in the community, such as at restaurants and retail stores.

Kennesaw State鈥檚 collective employment impact in FY 2025 was 16,926 full- and part-time jobs 鈥 including 4,645 jobs on campus and 12,281 jobs off campus in either the private or public sectors. Those numbers indicate that, for each job created by KSU on its campuses, another 2.6 jobs were created in the local community.

The report also showed that a University System of Georgia degree continues to pay off for students. A companion study released by the USG found that bachelor鈥檚 graduates in the class of 2025 from Georgia鈥檚 public colleges and universities will earn $1.4 million more during their lifetimes than they would without a degree.

The University System of Georgia鈥檚 measure of economic impact reflects direct and indirect spending that contributes to the regions served by its colleges and universities. The report evaluates economic impact in terms of output (sales, plus or minus inventory), value added (gross regional product), labor income and number of jobs.

The University of Georgia鈥檚 Terry College of Business analyzed data for the period of July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025 to calculate each school鈥檚 economic impact.
