Walking across the stage at Kennesaw State University鈥檚 Commencement ceremony was a remarkable moment for Sladjana Ray 鈥24. Having earned an education specialist degree, it marked her third successful round in higher education, to strengthen her skillset as a history teacher. In the crowd were her daughter, Mima Hrnjak, a nursing student in Kennesaw State鈥檚 Wellstar College of Health and Human Services, and Ray鈥檚 parents. They made the trip from their native Serbia, known as Yugoslavia when Ray migrated to the states in the 鈥90s as a 16-year-old basketball player.

Work didn鈥檛 end for Jennifer Wilson after the last bell rang at Red Top Middle School in Emerson, Georgia. While enrolled in the educational leadership doctoral program at Kennesaw State University, the full-time assistant principal and mother of two had research papers and discussion posts to write, classes to take. Wilson and her husband took turns cooking dinner for their daughters, and she attended their golf matches and tennis tournaments when she could. Graduating this May, Wilson will be the first in her family to have earned a doctorate.

Three Kennesaw State students in the First-Year Scholars Program are learning how information found in the past can serve as guideposts for the future. The program is designed to introduce first-year students to the undergraduate research experience at KSU, pairing them with a faculty mentor to oversee the process. Students also have an opportunity to present their findings at discipline-specific conferences and at the KSU Symposium of Student Scholars.

Kennesaw State University online degree programs have been ranked by U.S. News & World Report as among the best in the nation in the publication鈥檚 2025 Best Online Programs list. Two of KSU鈥檚 programs have been recognized as top 20 nationally, seven are among the top 50, and two other programs have ranked in the top 100.

A new partnership between the Bagwell College of Education and the Georgia Leadership Institute for School Improvement (GLISI) will expedite degree completion for educators pursuing a first-of-its-kind educational leadership degree at Kennesaw State University. Established last spring, KSU鈥檚 Master of Education in Teacher Leadership and Educational Leadership became the first in Georgia to offer the combination of teacher leadership and Tier I educational leadership certifications, the latter of which is required for educators to obtain leadership positions in school systems across the state.

A partnership with a school system in Georgia has provided a Kennesaw State University education program the opportunity to benefit from a grant to prepare students for careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. As part of multi-year grants of up to $8.6 million from the Toyota USA Foundation to Fulton County Schools (FCS), the iTeach program in the Bagwell College of Education at Kennesaw State will provide enhanced professional development for teachers around STEM topics.
