Recent Kennesaw State graduate leverages research passion into healthcare career

A simple conversation with Megan McCabe about her research is enough to see she is a scientist in the making. The recent Kennesaw State University graduate has already racked up an impressive r茅sum茅. She was a student in the KSU Journey Honors College, earned first place at Analytics Day, finished third at the Fall 2024 Symposium of Student Scholars, participated in the Birla Carbon Scholars program, and graduated summa cum laude. The self-described science nerd speaks with eloquence and enthusiasm about the work that led her to a bachelor鈥檚 degree in biology last month, and she hopes to take that enthusiasm and knowledge to medical school this fall.

Kennesaw State's Wellstar School of Nursing receives $1.2 million grant for opioid disorder training

As Georgia navigates a widespread opioid addiction crisis, researchers in Kennesaw State University鈥檚 Wellstar School of Nursing (WSON) are leveraging a $1.2 million grant to train budding nurses in addressing substance use disorders. The researchers 鈥 Katherine Barnett, Susan Beidler, Ashley Barber and Lisa Reyes-Walsh 鈥搑eceived the grant from the Georgia Opioid Crisis Abatement Trust (GOCAT) for their two-year project, 鈥淣urses Learning About Opioid Use Disorder,鈥 or Nurses LOUD.

Kennesaw State student leverages technology to elevate volunteer management for animal rescue

From humble beginnings in Europe to building a new life in the U.S., Radoslav Stoyanov鈥檚 journey has been guided by his resilience and drive to innovate. That drive, along with a passion to give back, recently resulted in a capstone project providing a technology-inspired solution for a local animal rescue. Originally trained as an electrical engineer in Bulgaria, Stoyanov aspired to study information technology, ultimately leading him and his wife, Teodora Stoyanov, to Kennesaw State University鈥檚 College of Computing and Software Engineering.

Kennesaw State University online degree programs have been ranked by U.S. News & World Report as among the best in the nation in the publication鈥檚 2025 Best Online Programs list. Two of KSU鈥檚 programs have been recognized as top 20 nationally, seven are among the top 50, and two other programs have ranked in the top 100.

Kennesaw State celebration honors MLK's legacy

Against the backdrop of a new exhibit honoring the 鈥渇oot soldiers鈥 of the Civil Rights Movement, the KSU Convocation Center filled on Friday to commemorate the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. during the MLK Legacy Breakfast Celebration. The celebration served as the kickoff for MLK Week, an annual event honoring the late civil rights icon. In addition to the breakfast, events are scheduled throughout next week to mark King鈥檚 legacy of promoting human rights, peace and service.
